Germans generally eat heavy meals and like to enjoy them. It consists of ample portions of meat and bread. Potatoes are almost a part of the staple diet; each region has its own favorite way of preparing them. The Germans have a reputation for consuming large amounts of red meat, simply cooked. People eat a fairly light breakfast what they call frühstück in German. This may include breads and some salted meats like salami, ham, or meat spreads, a fairly light evening meal called abendessen, and have their main meal at lunch called mittagessen.
A typical German meal consists of around six seven courses. They start with an appetizer, a soup, followed by a main course with one or two either raw or cooked side dishes. During the day, the Germans love to drink drip coffee with majestic cake.

Blood sausage / Blutwurst - A sausage made from blood, meat and barley. Blutwurst is is made of fatty pork meat with cow's blood, but popularly vary with the location. Sausages are generally ready cooked and ready to eat. But blutwurst is almost always heated and served hot.
Frankfurter sausage - A sausage made of smoked pork and is eaten hot with bread and mustard.
Sauerkraut - Finely sliced cabbage is fermented in an airtight container. It can be eaten as a relish when dressed with oil and onions as a salad, heated and served hot, or can be used as an ingredient in other dishes.
Schupfnudeln - Sauerkraut cooked with potato noodles.
Spätzle – These are the German noodles made of a simple dough consisting of flour, eggs and salt, and it is then cooked in boiling water. Spätzle is a side dish with meat or used as an ingredient in other dishes too.
