Indian Cuisine

The characteristics of Indian cuisine influenced by the regional distribution; this is because of the sheer size of the country which has forced every area to develop a different taste and a style of cooking. As a result, not only dishes, but colors, flavors, style of cutting the vegetables, methods of cooking the changes with every region.
India is famous for its spices and condiments that are used in preparing fine meals that are savoured by the world.

Tandoori and Biryani
This food is not very hot and usually tastes terrific. Tandoori food refers to the clay oven in which the food is cooked. The meat is marinated in a mixture of yogurts and spices before being cooked. Tandoori chicken is a special favorite in many places.

Guntaba, pounded and spiced meat balls that are cooked in yogurt

Chicken Mahanwala is a rich dish cooked in spices and a butter sauce.

Dhansak is a Parsi specialty in which lamb or chicken is cooked with curried lentils and steamed rice.

Kababs are another famous Indian dish

Thalis is the all-purpose Indian vegetarian dish and consists of a variety of vegetable curry dishes, a couple of puris or chapattis and a whole lot of rice.

Desserts and Sweets
Indians are said to have an amazing collection of sweets and it’s a must after a meal.

Kulfi is a sort of Indian representation of ice cream. It is a rich preparation of milk and nuts.
Rasgullas is a popular type of Dessert, these are sweet little balls of rose-flavored cream cheese.
Gulab Jamuns are small round balls brown in color made of flour, yogurt and ground almonds.
Sandesh is a variety of milk dish which is a famous preparation of Calcutta.
Payasam is a south desert made from milk simmered with crushed cashews, cereals and sugar, topped with raisins.
Firnee is a rice pudding with rich almonds, raisins and pistachios.
