If you a going to a Spanish country then you should try to learn some Spanish phrases which are essential while traveling in Spanish speaking cities. We have listed some Spanish phrases which are frequently used by visitors in Spanish countries.

As a traveler there are some simple phrases you should know. Spanish is an unusually rich and varied language. We have given you a list of simple phrases which you can apply during your travel. This let you have a basic level communication in spanish.

What are you called? ¿Cómo te llamas? (Komo tay yamas?)
I'm called Peter Me llamo Peter     (May yamo .....)


Note that the double "l" is pronounced as a "y", unless you are in Argentina where it is pronounced as a "sh". After meeting a person, you say,

Nice to meet you........ encantado
encantada (If you are a woman)
Where are you from? ¿De dónde eres? Day donday eris?
I'm from the United States Vengo de los Estados Unidos de América

These are some common phrases any time you want to buy something,

How much it is ¿Cuánto es?(Kwantoe s?)<
How much does it cost ¿Cuánto cuesta? (Kwantoe kwestah?)


If you are buying something or at the end of a taxi ride it is good to use,

How much do I owe you? ¿Cuánto le debo? (Kwantoe lay dehbow?)
Do you speak English? ¿Habla inglés?


TRAVELING IN A SPANISH COUNTRY:
One should try to be independent while traveling in a Spanish country, by this we mean he should be able to take care of basic communication so as to catch a taxi, reach the airport, to order something to eat and so on. The following sentences will guide you on the phrases that will help you.

If you want to reach somewhere:

Where can I take a taxi? Dónde puedo tomar un taxi?
Where can I take a train? Dónde puedo coger el tren?
Is there any store around? Dónde hay una tienda?
How much it cost? Cuánto cuesta?


If you want to eat you should ask them:

Where can I find a good restaurant? Dónde puedo encontrar un buen restaurante?
Which is the best restaurant in this city? Cuál es el mejor restaurante de esta ciudad?
Where can I buy clothes? Dónde puedo comprar ropa?


If you get sick:

I am sick Estoy enfermo. (for males)
Estoy enferma. (for females)
Where can I find an hospital? Dónde hay un hospital?
Where can I find a drug store? Dónde puedo encontrar una farmacia?
Could you tell me where is the hospital Me puede decir donde queda el hospital


For time and location:

What time is it? Qué hora es?
Where am I? Dónde estoy?
