Simple Sentences

Want to watch a movie with lots of Spanish sentences or have to visit Spanish speaking nation for a business meet? Whatever may be the reason, if you are willing to learn Spanish, you have to definitely start with some of these Spanish sentences.

To acknowledge someone

English: Hi!/Hello!
Spanish: Hola / Hello!
English: Good morning/afternoon/night/day!
Spanish: Buenos días / tarde / noche / día!

With strangers

English: Nice weather we have today; don't you think so?
Spanish: Buen clima que tenemos hoy, ¿no te parece?
English: So, do you come here often?
Spanish: Entonces, ¿usted viene aquí a menudo?
English: Excuse me.  You look very familiar.  Have we met somewhere before?
Spanish: Disculpe. Te ves muy familiar. ¿Nos conocemos en alguna parte antes?
English: Excuse me.  Can you tell me what time it is?
Spanish: Disculpe. ¿Puede usted decirme qué hora es?

With acquaintances/friends

English: Hey! It's been quite some time.
Spanish: Hey! Ha sido bastante tiempo.
English: How are you?
Spanish: ¿Cómo estás?
English: Looking good!/You look great!
Spanish: Verse bien! / Te ves muy bien!
English: What a pleasant surprise! I didn't expect to see you here.
Spanish: ¡Qué grata sorpresa! No esperaba verte aquí.

Introductory sentences

English: Pleased to See You
Spanish: Encantado de Ver
English: What is your name?
Spanish: ¿Cuál es su nombre?
English: My name is…..
Spanish: Mi nombre es ... ..
English: What is it?
Spanish: ¿Qué es?
English: Where is it?
Spanish: ¿Dónde está?

At the restaurant

English: May I have (a cup of) coffee, please.
Spanish: ¿Puedo tener (una taza de) café, por favor.
English: Do you have iced tea?
Spanish: ¿Tiene el té helado?
English: Is there a table available for four people?
Spanish: ¿Hay una mesa para cuatro personas?
English: Can I get the bill?
Spanish: ¿Puedo obtener el proyecto de ley?

While shopping

English: How much does it cost?
Spanish: ¿Cuánto cuesta?
English: It is very costly
Spanish: Es muy costoso
English: I wish to replace the currency
Spanish: Quiero sustituir la moneda

In general

English: Thank you very much
Spanish: Muchas gracias
English: What is the time, please?
Spanish: ¿Cuál es el tiempo, por favor?
English: I didn’t understand
Spanish: Yo no entendía

Spanish: ¿Dónde está la estación de tren?
English: How to arrive at the airport?
Spanish: Cómo llegar al aeropuerto?
English: Where can I get a taxi?
